HSBC Tower - Canary Wharf

CRS recently managed the removal and disposal of the end of life vending machines arising from a major refit in the HSBC tower building at Canary Wharf London. The project took place over four consecutive nights and involved over thirty tonnes of WEEE removed from over 40 floors. Constraints on time and movement around the busy Canary Wharf area demanded considerable planning and on site project management.

The HSBC facility management, Facilit8, worked alongside the CRS team to ensure minimum disruption to the local amenity and HSBC staff. The waste was consigned to the CRS specialist treatment facility in Rugby for secure disposal in line with HSBC’s duty of care as a producer of hazardous waste.

CRS regularly undertake facility management projects of this type, allowing main contractors to streamline the movement of large quantities of waste refrigerated equipment.  During the HSBC Tower refit the ad-hoc removal from site of all waste equipment gave the main contractor the freedom to complete a difficult refit on schedule.
