CRS recently acquired a significant 10 acre industrial site, formerly operated by a large dairy. The site, in the heart of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, had fallen into disrepair since the dairy operators decided to leave the area some years ago. CRS have since brought the site back into good use, refurbishing the office buildings and making good the transport infrastructure. The site now benefits from a state of the art IT system, comprehensive security and automated access.
The site will host a number of local businesses and new ventures, including software development, civil engineering and the company’s own retail, asset management and recycling services. It will also house the commercial fridge recycling plant due to be commissioned in early 2012. The installation of the fridge plant will complete the technology aspect of the UK’s first fully integrated recycling and EfW Eco-Park, at a capital cost of over £3m. The park will accept and recycle all categories of WEEE including CRT and fluorescent tubes, along with many other types of hazardous waste. Making good use of the recovered materials and associated wastes which will be diverted from landfill to new manufacturing and EfW applications.
